Maybe... MAYBE now I'll have what it takes to do to to some-radio-with-more-than-4-watts, i.e. and thusly be able to get email via means from ground level from more than a mile from the nearest gateway.

Alas, maybe not yet.

I have managed to get the FTM-300 to transmit. I can hear it on my HT.

But there is no evidence that it makes any sound for the Mobilinkd to hear.

It's possible that trying to use the FTM-300 for Data, while also having the speaker output plugged into a desktop mixer, is a no-go. Audio path might be interrupted by that. Gonna try pulling that speaker plug out.

I've looked at the pinout of the DATA jack on the FTM-300.

There is no RX audio out, nor TX audio in.

So, given that the works with my HT by connecting to earphone/mic connections (i.e. AUDIO connections), then this absolutely cannot work with the single DATA connection to the FTM-300.

Basically, the FTM-300 doesn't even need a TNC. It takes 1200 or 9600 baud literal data (not tones) from the computer, and does its own modulating.
