The Meindl Perfekt shoes need to be broken in for about 2-3 months, which is why I put them on as often as possible during my walks. Today I was in the Hamburg city park (central park of Hamburg) on foot and could also find two geogaches on my round.
@do1mj 2-3 months, those are real shoes!
Really enjoy #geocaching. I used to run a puzzle cache near my house. It lasted until construction required retiring it.
I am thinking about setting up one that uses a beacon, maybe on 222 MHz.
@abraxas3d @do1mj How fun! Please let me know details when you do (so I can try to find it if I'm in the area). Locally, there have been a few #geocaches that were low-power on consumer radio bands -- GC2G8DN (FM), GC2JG2T (AM) -- or wifi router transmitting a SSID.
@wt8p @do1mj Will do - there was a really fun automated 222 MHz event from Burning Man - must have been 2018 or so. You started off with a frequency at a particular "starting line" location, and a beacon gave you a geocache clue. Then you found that geocache, and got the next frequency. The beacons were so low power it was hard to simply scan the band for beacons.
I'm thinking the reverse might be easier to maintain? Find traditional cache & tune in for a rotating "key" from the beacon.
